Joe Davison was born in Zephyrhills, Florida on November 14, 1975. Growing up he found his way through life with comedy. Joe eventually graduated as one of the top of his class and was asked to be a key speaker at graduation. On his way to graduation, he wrote his speech on a napkin from a Chinese restaurant where he had dinner prior to the function. This was to be his first experience in front of a live audience. Thus began his ten years into Improvisational comedy and acting.
After graduation, Joe was on the comedy track and hasn't stopped performing since. His first real acting job was as a comedy writer and performer on a local sketch comedy show called “The Sidewalk Cracks” which aired every Monday night at ten o'clock on TCI Cable channel 5 in his hometown of New Port Richey. The show lasted almost eight years and Joe was a performer on it for five of those years.
Soon after, Joe left the small town of New Port Richey and moved to Tampa Florida in 1996. There he performed Imrpov comedy with several other comedians. With them he started “Beat the Dead Horse,” a rogue Improvisational comedy troupe that played local comedy clubs and bars. Within this time he met an aspiring film maker Charles Knowles who hired him as the lead role in his film.
Joe along with some other comedians decided to form the “Charming Hooligans,” another Improvisational comedy troupe. They also performed locally every Friday for three years. The “Hooligans” were invited to perform next to Dave Chapelle (The Chapelle Show) in 2001 at the University of South Florida Home Coming event for over 3,000 guests. This is Joe’s largest audience to date.
In 2001 Joe left Tampa for a short while and moved to Chicago to study at Second City. Shortly after that, Joe moved back to Tampa and started the Caffeine Kids. This was yet another Improvisational comedy troupe. Members included Pati White, Jason Kraynek, Victoria Tranthum, and Ryan Bauer. The Caffeine Kids became the Improv Comedy Club’s house comedy troupe and performed almost every Wednesday, mostly on short notice…thanks to Gary Menke.
In this same time frame Joe began script writing with his friend Noeland Collins. He and Collins started the film company Present Day Productions and have made two films together of which Joe had the lead role as well he was a producer (Afterlife; a short action zombie film and Pain; a crime noir feature still in post production). Craig Kovach of Pheromone Films was Executive producer on both films.
Joe went on to get a lead role (Detective Jeff Juransky) and co-produced Craig Kovach’s “Unearthed”. Joe began a life long friendship with Craig Kovach and accidentally stated that he’d lay his life on the line for Craig… maybe.
In September of 2003 Joe moved to Thetford, England with his wife Jori. Traveling back and forth from Cambridge every other week, Joe worked with the Cambridge Film Makers Network; headed by Alison Mulford. This is a small group of intelligent Independent Film Makers based out of Cambridge. Joe along with Carl Homer, Stuart Walkins, Neill Phillips, Kate Robinson, and always Emily Blickem made four films together in as many months. That is until they kicked Joe out of England for eating too many Jammy Dodgers and Jaffa Cakes. Joe had made his way back to Tampa to make more films and entertain even more onlookers.
Who knows what’s next?
